TerraSlate Inc. manufactures, prints, and designs waterproof paper substrates for a wide array of industries around the world.  Our innovative, waterproof paper and printing solutions meet the demands of customers in almost every market segment, while our team consistently works to exceed customer expectations in each client interaction.

How Did We Get Here?

Kyle Ewing, founder and CEO of TerraSlate, started the business in 2014 with the idea that students traveling abroad needed a durable backup copy of their passports when traveling.  He spent months with a team of chemical engineers researching and developing solutions for a paper stock that was waterproof, rip-proof, that also hold toner when printed.  He spent months calling manufacturers and eventually connected with a company who had the capability to turn his idea into a product.  Then he created a product called SOS Worldpass which was a backup copy of a passport printed on his newly created waterproof, rip-proof, and virtually indestructible paper.

The problem Kyle ran into was the market for the product did not exist.  While Kyle was struggling to make the company a success, he received a call from a customer who had purchased four copies of the SOS Worldpass for his daughters.  The customer asked to purchase a piece of the waterproof paper rather than a backup copy of a passport.  At that point, Kyle had an epiphany that the product he was selling was waterproof paper and printing services rather than just backup copies of passports.  Since that moment the company has expanded it services into selling printed restaurant menus, maps, field manuals, nautical charts, and selling blank paper.
